Surfing Linda Mar August 30, 2009

To quote emily, “Today was foggy, gnarly, high tide and awesome”. We had a great time today even though we got pretty beaten up by the incoming high tide. Usually the best time to surf Linda Mar is at high tide, but since there are normally no channels to paddle out in you have to be ready for the shore pound. The best way to get out on my super fish is to turtle roll and hope another wave isn’t right behind it. I am learning something every time I go out and that feels good.

We both caught several nice waves today, and I caught one short left before I got closed out on. I also lucked into one nice ride from the outside to the beach.

The water seemed wicked cold to me today. I haven’t used a hood yet, and wasn’t wearing any gloves and at some point it got hard to move my hands. I also got an ice cream brain freeze when I first got in the water. In all honesty I’m starting to love to surf in the cold water. All in all another great day!

BTW, my new board is awesome.
