Surfing Linda Mar September 3, 2009

Had another awesome day surfing Linda Mar today with Emily. The waves were rather small, however, I got my first bottom turn today! I went straight when I took off, but when I was approaching the bottom I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the wave was still breaking to the right. As I hit the bottom of the wave I turned my head and swung my body to the right and my board turned. This might not sound like much to a pro, but it was my first real turn, and it felt good. Since this was Linda Mar the ride only lasted seconds before the wave closed out. I did get another very short right and one nice straight ride from the outside. I’m very stoked, however, we do need to get to another wave that breaks correctly if we want to improve.

Oh yes, and it was sunny in Pacifica today – very nice!

Surfline surf report for this afternoon – Small, crumbly NW swell leftovers continue this afternoon. Better breaks have knee-waist high surf, with a few inconsistent plus sets for top exposures. Onshore flow remains light, putting only a slight texture/crumble to the surface. The surf doesn’t look great, but there are a few rideable corners here and there. Buoys reading 4ft @ 8sec. The winds were W @ 3 – 5kts.
