Surfing Linda Mar September 8, 2009

Linda Mar was awesome today! We got there just as high tide was cresting, and it was sunny. The waves were great for the first hour. Then as the tide started going out the waves began to become very hard to ride – except for very straight whitewater rides. We both caught several whitewater waves and I caught one left, but couldn’t get off my stomach. I did ride it from the outside all the way into the beach. I’ve read recently that this is a good way to practice riding the shoulder, and it seemed to work out well.
Surfline surf report for this afternoon – NW wind/groundswell continues to drop out this afternoon as small SW energy continues. Better breaks still have waist-chest high surf, as standout exposures pull in some occasional shoulder high+ sets at times. Onshore flow is an issue however, putting a decent bump/texture to the surface.
