Surfing Canoes – December 16, 2009

Posted on 16th December, by max in Surf Sessions. Comments Off

We stayed up a little too late last night, and got woken up by an employee fire drill a little too early this morning. We were a bit out of it when we hit the water, but as usual we woke up as soon as we got on our boards. It was a little colder today as it was a bit overcast an breezy, but still very warm by Nor Cal standards. The water felt warmer than the air

Surf conditions were fairly flat, but as usual at Canoes if you wait long enough a set or two will always come through. In fact we waited so long for the first set that my bum hurt from sitting on my board. After surfing every day for a week now my paddling strength is going up every day. I can now paddle from the shore to the outside with only one short break. I think I’m going to miss these long paddle outs when I get home.

Today’s photos and short video were taken with our new Fuji Z33 waterproof 10 megapixel camera. We walked into a camera store looking for batteries for our Hero 5 surf camera and found the Fuji. It seems to be the perfect camera for our surf trips.

Surfline surf report for today – Small SSW swell providing some rideable waves with glassy morning conditions. Most spots have small waves in the ankle to shin high range with perhaps a knee high sets at select spots. Light winds will provide glassy morning conditions with onshore sea breezes in the afternoon for southern shorelines.
