Awesome Day for Emily’s Birthday Surf

Posted on 7th January, by max in Surf Sessions. 1 Comment

It was Emily’s birthday today so we decide to head out for a late afternoon / sunset surf at Linda Mar. It turned out to be one of the best days we’ve ever surfed there. The tide was rising, and there was light wind with a western swell. Conditions were glassy, and there was a lot of rideable corners.

The only downside today was I didn’t catch any waves. I paddled for several an thought I had them and then just rolled off the back. Emily said it looked like I was taking off too deep. I need to work on my timing here in Nor Cal. There waves were there but I wasn’t. Still had a great time though.

On another note my new wetsuit has been awesome. Very warm for a 4 / 3 and almost no leakage. The full hood has been great, but as my friend Luke said, you’ll roast if it’s over 55 degrees outside”. I’ve found this to be very true.

BTW, happy birthday to my awesome wife Emily.

Surfline surf report for today – Somewhat jumbled, mixed up surf on tap this afternoon as new WNW swell continues to fill in. Better breaks have waist-head high surf, as top exposures are in the shoulder high to overhead+ zone. It’s definitely worth a look if you have the time this afternoon.
Pre surf food – Potato soup.
