Final Day Surfing in Oahu

Did a double sesh today on this final day of surfing in Hawaii. Of all of the sessions we’ve had since we’ve been here today had the least favorable conditions. The waves were rather small and mushy, and I didn’t score any rides on the shortboard. Still I feel fortunate to have had so many awesome sessions since I’ve been here. Also, It’s been great to get a start learning how to use the shortboard in such perfect conditions.
I really love the shortboard I’ve been surfing, so I purchased a new one this morning. It’s a 6″6′ Firewire Dominator. I can’t wait to try this board back home in Nor Cal. Special thanks to my super awesome wife Emily for supporting what must have seemed like a crazy notion that I could surf a shortboard! Also, thanks to @cryptomail and @lkilpatrick for the shortboard encouragement via twitter!
For now it’s back to Nor Cal where I hope to start surfing HMB Jetty and Ocean Beach in the near further. I need to say goodbye to Linda Mar once and for all, and move on to better breaks. Next stop HNL to SFO in the morning.
Aloha
#62 and #63 / #21 for 2010 / 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm
1-2 ft. Light and variable east winds with smooth seas. Small long period swell from the south-southwest. REGIONAL SUMMARY: Residual SSE swell still keeping some small but rideable waves rolling into southern shorelines today. Nothing real big but we are seeing most locations with waves in the knee to waist high range with some larger chest high sets mainly at channel entrances. The Kilo Nalu buoy is reading 2.8 feet @ 12.1 seconds…so there is some small SSE swell producing surf today. Moderate trades are blowing to provide typical offshore conditions in town and rough sideshore bump for southeast exposures.
