Just for clarification the title means riding my 9.6 not the Jackie Treehorn movie from the Big Lebowski. :) Anyway, Emily and I had the most awesome day today at the HMB Jetty. The surf was small but the weather was warm sunny and perfect. After living in California for just over 5 years now this was one of my favorite weather days ever.

While the surf was small today we still had a great time. One thing that we have both noticed is that we both feel as if we’re improving at the Jetty. This is the same way we feel when we’re surfing in Oahu. Almost every day I learn something new. This is the exact opposite of Linda Mar where I felt I learned little or nothing.

We both caught non-breaking waves today which is something we’ve been working on. Emily caught some really awesome rides and I caught two. The conditions today we’re about 1 to 2 feet today and the Jetty is like a wave machine. They just keep rolling in over and over. The rights were missing today but the rides were still fun.

They other cool thing is that there was over 100 surfers in the water at LM, but the JT was really open. It was easy to have a whole sandbar to yourself.

Regional Summary: NW wind/groundswell fades, mixing with small-scale SSW (180-200) energy for shoulder-head high+ surf. Top spots see sets running a couple feet overhead. Light wind early with some residual surface texture at the more open areas.
