Almost Dawn Patrol

Posted on 8th November, by max in Surf Sessions. Comments Off

If you’ve read my surf journal, or know me you’re aware that I never get up early. Today my wife and I are starting to change that once and for all. We’ve known since we started surfing a bit over a year ago that dawn was usually the best time to go. Walled up lines, clean surf and little or no wind. We’ve always let our work schedule dictate our sleeping habits. We are now entering a new era of controlling our schedule for surf priorities. This means up early from now on.

We got there a bit less than an hour after sunrise and we’re greeted with cold, windy (16 to 33 MPH) and rainy conditions. For some reason the waves looked fairly clean at the north end. They were also too big for us. We stayed to the middle where there weren’t too many big waves an paddled around in the rain for what seemed like a while. Neither one of us caught a ride, but we had an awesome time.

This morning’s dawn patrol: Clean, semi-walled lines with a few scattered corners. Inconsistent.
