Today was the first WNW groundswell of the fall. Our friend Izzy called this morning and said, “it’s bigger than yesterday and is working at the south end, it’s sunny, and the flag at Taco Bell is barely moving so, get down here”! We were already in the other parking lot and suited up and headed for the south end. We saw Izzy catch a couple of big ones and were wondering if it was getting too big for us, or not.

We were sitting on the beach looking at the waves, and just then we saw Rick who was getting out, and he said, “the left at boatdocks was working, and fun”. We’d never been there but decided to give it a go. Emily was already looking in that direction before we ran into Rick. :)

As we paddled out we could notice a big difference in the amount of kelp at this end (l love kelp). When we got outside the scene was amazing. The giant cliff, blue sky, abundant sea life, and just a few surfers in the line up. Sounds like a perfect set up. Emily caught four nice lefts, and I got skunked. Still, I met some nice folks in the line up and had an awesome day! Sometimes you need to catch one, and sometimes just being out in the water is all you need. :)
