Last night my partner at ideacodes Emily Chang and I attended the Techcrunch 5 party at Mike Arrington's home in Atherton, California, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. The night was cold and wet, but MIke's house was full of warm personalities, stimulating conversation and free wine.
The
Techcrunch 5 party was held in honor of the new book by
Shel Israel and
Robert Scoble titled, "
Naked Conversations" We haven't read the book yet, but we did purchase a copy there and had it signed by Shel and Robert. The reviews we've read looked excellent and we can't wait to take turns reading it this weekend.
The party was filled with the
past,
current and
future internet famous. We enjoyed meeting several new friends which I had formerly only known through their blogs, companies, or work. It seems as though this happens at nearly every event we attend in the Bay Area. We moved to San Francisco from New York about a year and a half ago, and the thing that I notice most about the tech crowd out here is their openness and sense of community. The Techcrunch 5 party was the epitome of this notion.
Mike put on a great party and was a wonderful host. His sponsors really came though including music by
Pandora, podcasting by
Podtech, a fully tented and heated backyard and free food and drinks for everyone. I personally appreciated the ten cases of their premium wine donated by
Stormhoek.
Unfortunately we missed the naked part of the night: the real
naked conversation between Shel and Robert. We loved meeting all of the new people we ran into and had a wonderful time.
And finally as Mike said in his post, "the police never came and Laguna, my dog, is still alive.

All that is left to do is clean up the mess tomorrow..."
